LIZ TANNEBAUM
A talented actress celebrated for her dynamic performances on both stage and screen, Liz continues to break barriers and captivate audiences.
She recently starred in Spring Awakening at Milwaukee’s Skylight Music Theatre—returning to the very stage where she first made waves in Children of a Lesser God back in 1989. In a groundbreaking moment for Las Vegas, she also guest starred in Menopause The Musical, becoming the first Deaf actress in history to join a hearing cast for a headlining production on the Las Vegas Strip!

With a rich repertoire that includes films like What Women Want, Wrong Game, Sweet Nothing in My Ear, and What?, Liz has garnered extensive experience across various productions. Her passion for the arts was inspired by her late father, Ted Tannebaum of LakeShore Entertainment, and she proudly continues his legacy by advocating for Deaf arts in theater and film.
A trailblazer and dedicated artist, Liz produced her own groundbreaking film, No Ordinary Hero: The SuperDeafy Movie, and is the founder of the Festival of Cinema for the Deaf. She made history as the first Deaf actress to join a hearing cast on the Las Vegas Strip in Menopause The Musical and earned a Chicago Emmy Award for Staring Back. Her commitment to representation has also led to her being featured in the Duke the Deaf Dog children’s book series.
Liz has received numerous honors, including the Shining Star Award from the International Center on Deafness. She’s performed the National Anthem in ASL at both the NFL Pro Bowl and a Chicago Bears game, and recently served as keynote speaker at the Chicago Park District Deaf & Hard-of-Hearing Teen Opportunity Fair.
She is a proud member of SAG-AFTRA and co-hosts the popular podcast The Sound Off Ladies. In her spare time, Liz enjoys traveling, working on special projects, and cherishing moments with family and friends.
